RV/CAMPING
On-site camping
Dry camping is available on site, on a first come, first serve basis, when you submit your regionals entry form. If we receive more applications for camping than there are spots, priority will be given to competitors travelling from the mainland, then competitors travelling from the south island, and then local competitors who live within an hour of the trial site.
If you are coming to volunteer only, and wish to camp, please email Kelly at [email protected] with the length of your RV, number of days you are planning to volunteer, and number of nights you would like to camp.
The camping area is in a field located about a two minute walk from the rings and crating area. As this is dry camping, please note that there is no power or water on site so you must be self contained. There is a Shell gas station with a dump site right around the corner.
There is a three night minimum for a flat rate of $80. You can add a fourth night for $20. Camping is available Thursday, the 8th to Monday, the 12th.
When regionals entries open, you will need to provide us with the length and type of your RV/unit. If you wish to camp beside your friend, you will be asked to indicate that on the form. We will do our best to situate you next to or near your friends but please be aware that we may need to place you in an area that “fits” your RV/unit so that we can maximize the number of people camping on site. Also, if you arrive on a different day than your friend(s) we may not be able to place you beside them. Again, we will do our best but please be prepared to be flexible. If this doesn’t suit you, there are a number of campgrounds nearby – see the list below.
Tenting:
There may be some spots available for tenting in an area separate from the RVs, however please note that you will not be able to drive your car up to that area. If you are interested in tent camping, please email us at: [email protected] for details.
There are some other excellent camping options near the regional’s site. You will need to contact the campground with regards to pet fees and number of dogs allowed. You may also want to look at campgrounds in/near Courtenay as well if the campgrounds listed below do not meet your needs. Courtenay is approximately 40 minutes from the regionals’ site.
